Features and Benefits

How does this program differ from traditional career development programs?

In traditional career development programs, people speak of career paths with planned, logical progressions of jobs within one or more professions throughout one’s working life. Even programs that move away from career ladders to a less hierarchical career path model still look at steps that would lead to raises and promotions.

The Career Collaborators®
Program
allows organizations to provide employees with ways to explore jobs and careers that do not promise a list of tasks to accomplish for the next promotion or clear-cut steps to a new role. What it does offer are tools and resources for career self-exploration — something many employees never take the time to consider within a traditional program. Additionally, it provides the organization with a window into the career aspirations of existing talent — something again often missing in workforce planning exercises.

What are the proven benefits of the Career Collaborators® Program?

Employee Empowerment – Individuals come to know themselves, their strengths and areas for improvement. They discover opportunities through which they can accelerate their career growth while making a significant contribution to their organization’s success.

Cross-Functional, Cross-Organizational Networking – The program provides introductions to others within the company who may be subject-matter or industry experts or who understand the organizational culture and can provide informal mentoring to Circle Members. It gives insight into opportunities for career growth within the organization, including guidance on how to develop new skills for new or different roles that can create a “not thought of before” career option.

Widespread Recognition – Employees learn that the organization cares about the career interests of its employees and will assist in career exploration — positive features for recruiting and retention.

Additional Insight – The employer is provided with another view into the interests and talents of
employees that may not be visible through standard performance reviews or development conversations with immediate supervisors.
